Car Crash Detection now available in India and other countries through Google Pixel

Google Rolls Out Car Crash Detection Feature to Pixel Phones in India and Other Countries

In an exciting development for Google Pixel users in India and several other countries, Google has expanded its car crash detection feature. This feature was initially introduced to Pixel smartphones in 2019 but had limited availability. However, with the recent expansion, Pixel users can now access the feature through the Safety app on Pixel 3 and later models.

While Apple launched a similar feature in the iPhone 14 series, Google’s car crash detection feature was relatively unknown due to its limited availability. Now, Google has extended its availability to more regions, including India. Let’s delve into what the Google Pixel Crash Detection feature entails and the list of newly added countries.

The car crash detection feature on Pixel devices utilizes built-in sensors to identify when a user has been involved in a car accident. It employs location data, motion sensors, and microphones to assess the severity of the crash. The feature waits for 60 seconds for the user to respond. If there is no response, it automatically sends a message to emergency services. This functionality has the potential to save numerous lives and prove immensely valuable in emergency situations.

While this feature is highly sought after, it was previously limited by location and language restrictions. Fortunately, the recent update indicates that it will now be accessible in several countries.

According to a tweet from Mishaal Rahman, Google discreetly updated its support page, listing five new countries where Pixel users can now access the car crash detection feature. This list includes Austria, Belgium, India, Portugal, and Switzerland. With the addition of these countries, a total of 20 nations can now benefit from this life-saving feature.

However, it is worth noting that certain language restrictions persist for Indian users, as they are currently unable to switch the language to Hindi within the feature. Additionally, 9To5Google reported that the car crash detection feature will also be available on Pixel 4a and subsequent models, which includes the new foldable smartphones by Google.

With this latest expansion, Google aims to ensure the widespread availability of this crucial feature, offering enhanced safety and peace of mind to Pixel users across the globe.
