Microsoft Brings AI Assistant, Microsoft 365 Copilot, to Businesses and Enterprise Customers
In a significant move towards integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their products, Microsoft has announced the launch of Microsoft 365 Copilot for businesses and enterprise customers. This comes after the tech giant unveiled the AI assistant at Build 2023 and introduced the Bing Chat Enterprise at the Inspire conference.
The 365 Copilot was initially released as a preview version for select businesses and enterprise customers. However, it is now being rolled out globally with certain conditions. In order to access the AI assistant, enterprises must not only subscribe to the premium version but also have a minimum of 300 users on their waitlist. Additionally, the purchase of 365 Copilot can only be made through a Microsoft account representative.
TJ Devine, the senior director of product marketing for Microsoft 365, explained the process, stating, “Enterprise customers can call their Microsoft account representative to purchase Microsoft 365 Copilot. Customers who already have Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 (or Business Standard / Premium) can start using Bing Chat Enterprise today.”
So, what exactly can Microsoft 365 Copilot do? It serves as an AI companion that utilizes web knowledge, work data, and current PC activities to provide assistance while prioritizing privacy and security. It can be easily accessed through Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and even web browsers like Edge and Bing. The AI assistant can be used as an app or summoned with a simple right-click. It seamlessly integrates with the Microsoft Office suite, enabling tasks such as analyzing Excel spreadsheets, summarizing documents, generating emails, and more. In Outlook, Copilot can summarize lengthy email threads, offer annotated key information, and suggest action items, replies, and follow-up meetings.
For Microsoft Word users, the AI assistant can provide document summaries or produce detailed bullet-pointed summaries. It can even rewrite paragraphs and allow for fine-tuning tones, refining prompts, and generating tables from text. In Excel, Copilot’s analytics and visualization features enable instant data analysis, the creation of formula columns, customized data highlights, and easy filtering and sorting.
However, it is essential to note that Microsoft 365 Copilot does not come without a cost. The pricing for the AI assistant has been announced, and it may not be within everyone’s budget. Commercial users can acquire Microsoft 365 Copilot for $30 per user per month if they are subscribed to Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, or Business Premium.
