Mumbai’s famous Lalbaugcha Raja mandal, known as the ‘King of Lalbaug,’ has received an astounding amount of donations during the first two days of the Ganeshotsav festival. The total amount collected has exceeded Rs 1.02 crore, with over Rs 60 lakh received on the second day alone.

In addition to the generous monetary contributions, the Ganpati idol at Lalbaugcha Raja has also received offerings of 183.480 grams of gold and 622 grams of silver. The second day of the festival saw a significant increase in cash donations compared to the first day.

Notably, several Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Kartik Aaryan, and Vicky Kaushal, visited Lalbaugcha Raja to seek blessings from Lord Ganesh. This revered idol has also attracted prominent political figures, such as former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.

The Lalbaugcha Raja idol, situated in Putlabai Chawl, is the most visited Ganesh idol in Mumbai. For decades, devotees have flocked to the Lalbaug market to witness and pay homage to this iconic symbol of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The tradition dates back to 1934 when the first idol was installed by the Lalbaug Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal.

This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at Lalbaugcha Raja holds special significance as it marks the 90th anniversary of this grand commemoration.
