Goldy Brar, a resident of Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, has come under the radar of security agencies for his alleged involvement in the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala. This development comes shortly after a fresh reward was announced for Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, also known as Landa.

In a concerted effort, the Punjab Police conducted raids at multiple locations on Thursday in their attempt to apprehend criminals associated with Brar. The operation started at 7 am and covers all districts of the state. Senior police officials lead several teams to execute the operation effectively.

The victim, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29, 2022, with Brar being the primary suspect.

Satinderjeet Singh, also known as Goldy Brar, travelled to Canada on a student visa in 2017. He has been identified as an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Several reports indicate that Brar is currently residing in Canada. In May, Interpol-Ottawa’s Fugitive Apprehension Support Team added Brar’s name to Canada’s list of the top 25 most wanted fugitives.

According to Canadian officials, Brar poses a risk to public safety and is the subject of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) investigation based on significant allegations from India. India has issued a Red Corner notice against him, and the charges include murder, criminal conspiracy, and illegal firearms supply.

The relationship between India and Canada has recently been strained by the promotion of secessionism by anti-India elements in Canada. This tension escalated when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of involvement in the assassination of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. In response, Canada expelled a senior Indian diplomat, prompting India to expel a top Canadian official within five days.

In another incident, Sukhdool Singh, a gangster who fled Punjab for Canada in 2017, was shot by unidentified assailants in Winnipeg. He had reportedly joined pro-Khalistan forces.

As a result of the escalated tensions, India suspended visa services for Canadian citizens, while Ottawa announced temporary adjustments to its staff presence in India for the safety of its diplomats.

Goldy Brar’s case highlights the ongoing issue of transnational criminal activities and the challenges faced by security agencies in apprehending criminals operating across borders. The authorities will continue their efforts to bring Brar to justice and maintain law and order in the region.
