Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday issue resurfaced, as the company rolled out 63 updates (including those for disclosures) for the Windows platform and Office. Major concerns arose regarding the updates for three zero-days in Windows and Office, making them both critically important for patches.
Known issues specified by Microsoft relate to the operating system and are included in each update. Several fixes have been categorized as “uninstallable” on certain platforms, and there are still a few technical errors for which the Microsoft team continues to work on a resolution.
This cycle has seen three major revisions that require maintenance, including two critical updates for Windows that cover key components like Hyper-V, Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), and other areas as well as important updates to the Windows platform and Microsoft Office. Both critical and standard update schedules must be followed for all these revisions.
The significance of cybersecurity cannot be overstated – such issues are real threats, and they need immediate attention. While there have been no critical vulnerabilities for the Chromium project Edge browser, the public reporting of security bypass vulnerabilities in recent versions of Microsoft Office (Office 365 and Office 2019/2021), require immediate attention and a reboot, according to Microsoft.
