Main hospital in the Gaza Strip constructing mass grave

Babies born in Gaza face immense danger as they come into the world during an escalated violent conflict in the region. Ahlam was born in Gaza on November 7th, significantly underweight and has spent her entire life in an incubator. The hospital’s neonatal ward is filled with the sounds of newborn cries and medical equipment beeping, along with the noise of nearby airstrikes.

Meanwhile, heavy rain has begun in Gaza, bringing with it difficulties for the homeless population living in tents after relentless Israeli bombardments. The rainfall has led to concerns about the sewage system becoming overwhelmed and an increased risk of disease spreading.

Amidst ongoing battles and the potential for flooding in Gaza, a group of pediatric cancer patients were successfully evacuated from Gaza to receive treatment in Egypt. This international rescue operation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Egypt, Jordan, and the US, alongside other organizations.

On a disturbing note, a 3-year-old American girl, Abigail Mor Idan, was taken by Hamas during an attack, and her parents were killed. With the children still in captivity, their families are trying to raise awareness and gain international support.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, as there are reports of babies dying at Al-Shifa hospital and mass graves being dug. Amid this crisis, Israel announced that incubators and fuel would be provided to the hospital.

As the conflict continues, a medical team from Médecins Sans Frontières has entered Gaza through Egypt, aiming to alleviate suffering and support local healthcare workers.

Simultaneously, the families of hostages held by Hamas are demanding action from the Israeli government, as they start a five-day march demanding more decisive efforts to secure the release of their loved ones.

US President Joe Biden also discussed the ongoing hostage situation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, signaling the importance of securing the freedom of hostages, including American citizens.
