WhatsApp could soon introduce a small and adorable chatbot button for conversing with Meta AI.

WhatsApp is soon going to join the league of tech platforms that have incorporated AI-powered chatbots into their interface. This move comes after the success of similar tools like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Copilot, which forced platforms like Discord and Snapchat to introduce their own AI chatbots.

As per reports from WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp features a dedicated button to quickly launch the AI chatbot. The button is located in the Chats tab above the icon to start new chats, making it more convenient for users to access the AI-powered chats.

WhatsApp’s parent company Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg had first announced the AI chatbot back in September, stating that the company is experimenting with AI-powered chatbots for a select group within the USA. In the September beta of WhatsApp, the AI chatbot was rolled out but was hidden in the contact list, making it difficult to start conversations. However, the latest beta build for Android 2.23.24.26 has added a small button on the home screen to quickly boot the chatbot, aimed at making the process faster and more intuitive.

The button is positioned right above the ‘New Chat’ button at the bottom right corner, and tapping on it quickly opens the Meta AI chatbot. Despite being an experimental feature available in the WhatsApp beta, it is unclear whether it will be present in the global release of the same version. The timeline for the wider release of this feature is also uncertain at this time.
